Hi there! My name is Kyra, and I'd like to consider myself an active, energetic, outgoing, and open-minded person. I love hiking, playing outside, swimming, etc. In my free time I really enjoy doing art and dancing. Recently, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in marine biology. I'm looking to go into grad school for zoology in the near future, but I'm also considering getting a degree in education to teach at the primary school level in the meantime. My greatest goal in life is to contribute to society in some meaningful way, and I think pursuing science and education are probably the best ways I can do that. I love working with children of all ages. I first got started working with children at the age of 12 when I became a volunteer for the YMCA working in childcare services. I volunteered in this position for about 3 years where I was working primarily with children aged 2-4 years old. In addition to my time spent there, for 3 years I also volunteered as a marine science camp counselor for kids 6-12 y.o. For a weekend, I acted as a human guide for visually impaired children 8-16 y.o. participating in sports activities. This was my first experience working with special needs children, but I can say I learned a lot about how to be a more effective helper and supporter to their success. Most of my experience with children is a mix between volunteer activities and nanny work.
