Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

Currently seeking employment on either a part-time or full-time basis! I'm a outgoing and energetic Music Therapy Graduate with many years of child care and babysitting experience. Licensed G driver with a personal vehicle. Working to one day get a job in Pediatric Music Therapy. I have spent my last three summers working for two wonderful families, with twins around 3-4 years old, and older boys around 4-12 years of age. I have recently graduated University and so will be residing in the greater Ottawa area for the time being. Though I am very flexible and enjoy meeting the unique needs of the families I work for, my practice typically centers around a positive and child-first model of care. My care practice is rooted in developmental needs of children and evidence based psychology on what contributes to healthy child development in all developmental areas. I am warm, open, trusting, and positive. I enjoy providing children a "safe base" to explore the world from, and allow them freedom to learn through doing in safe environments. I enjoy taking them on "field trips" around Ottawa and showing them new things to help expand their learning. I have experience with multiples and special needs children, including children with autism and learning disabilities. I also have experience working around severe food allergies and I am able to administer an Epipen. I also know basic sign language, and have used that knowledge to help with speech delayed toddlers. I have also successfully potty trained a developmentally delayed toddler. I am able to work side by side with parents to set developmentally appropriate goals for us to work to achieve over the course of my care. I am a musician (voice, piano, guitar, ukulele) and love using this in my practice as a nanny! I also enjoy learning new languages, dance (I was a dance teacher throughout high school), swimming and outdoor activities, and volunteering. I am adventurous, flexible, positive and open to new experiences! Creating fun, unique activities for children is something I excel at. I am currently a qualifying member of the Canadian Association of Music Therapists, and hope to complete my examination and become a board certified MT by September.
