Nanny in Amherstburg, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Children learn best in a supportive learning environment, and as an educator and caregiver in your home it is my responsibility to foster this type of atmosphere. Learning happens differently for every child. While the process is linear and builds on previous knowledge, I believe it’s important as both a caregiver and an educator in your home to meet your child(ren) at their specific level, teaching them through formal and informal settings, and viewing every “mistake” as an opportunity. My role is to create a safe, caring, loving and nurturing space for your child(ren), while focusing on their individual needs as well as their needs as a group, should there be more than one child in your home. I believe children learn best when the lesson comes as naturally as possible, which is why my role in your home is to be a partner in their education who will assist them in extending their current thoughts and ideas. Observation is key in ensuring I meet each of your child’s needs individually. While education at a cognitive and physical level is important, it is just as important to educate children at an emotional level, and my role a caregiver in your home is to foster a learning environment that will celebrate accomplishments, and reflect on mistakes and mistaken behaviour. My biggest strength is being a clear communicator, and I plan on instilling on your child(ren) the ability to think and communicate their thoughts and feelings in an effective manor. This will assist them in problem solving, as well as extending their learning. My biggest weakness however, is not being able to turn down someone who needs my help, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to Early Childhood Education – to be a part of early intervention for our youth. Having an active supporter has been a proven crucial component in a child’s early development and learning, and I will always make sure I do anything I can for my students. I was drawn to the field of education because I wanted to make a difference in the early years. Too many young adults are struggling when they could have had early intervention and assistance much sooner. This is why I became an Early Childhood Educator. I believe I am a teacher of many things - math, literacy, science and more - but above all else, I am a support system for children and my focus is on them and their individual needs, and that is my commitment and overall philosophy as an educator.
