Nanny in Victoria, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
Hi, I'm Tori! My journey into the world of pregnancy and newborn care began nearly two decades ago when my mom became pregnant with my little brother - I read every pregnancy book with her and attended every prenatal appointment. Ten years later, I graduated from Victoria's Pacific Rim College's Holistic Birth and Post-Partum Doula Program in 2015. Since then, I've been practicing as a Doula while working full-time as a Nanny. While I initially provided on-call support for births, my focus has shifted more towards postpartum care. I have a particular fondness for overnight shifts, as they allow parents to get some much-needed rest. My education and experience include: - Babywearing, including wraps and carriers. - Support with breastfeeding. - Preparation and feeding of pumped milk or formula. - Baby-soothing techniques during sleep regression, illness, or teething. - Provision of evidence-based information on postpartum recovery, infant care, and effective parenting techniques. - Assistance with light household chores, including bottle washing, laundry, and tidying up. - Creating a home environment conducive to rest and recovery. - Awareness of postpartum depression and the ability to offer emotional support. I also draw inspiration from several postpartum books, including: - "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" by Tracy Hogg - "Dr. Jack Newman's Guide to Breastfeeding" by Dr. Jack Newman & Teresa Pitman - "Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn" by Penny Simkin et al. - "The Happiest Baby on the Block" by Harvey Karp - "Pregnancy Blues" by Shaila Misri - "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley - "The Birth Partner" by Penny Simkin - "Spiritual Midwifery" by Ina May Gaskin Please reach out if you would like to start with a phone call to see if we're a good match! I look forward to hearing from you.
