Nanny in Vancouver, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
My name is Cress I am very passionate about working with children of all ranges from birth to 18 years. My first experience of officially working with children was volunteering at a children developmental unit in England where every Saturday I would go and volunteer, I was only 16 but I loved the experience I recall volunteering there for a year.. I moved from England when I was 19 years old after attending college to study the N.N.E.B , nursery nursing. In the nusery nursing course I studied the in depth development of children from birth to 7 years old. After which I started travelling. My first place I stayed was in New York State working on a summer camp with children with special needs. I loved it ,then after three months went to Toronto.I began working in a daycare then moved back to London U.K to immigrate to Canada. When I lived in London I worked in the school board as a nursery nurse working with children between the ages of 3-6 years old, providng creative fun learning environment for them. When I arrived back into Canada, I moved to Vancouver..I nannied for a wonderful family who I still have very fond memories of. I was very honoured to work for such an amazing family and felt like I was part of their family..I loved the connection I had with them and how they even involved me in the meetings at school. I then moved to Revelstoke with my husband. We love nature, hiking, biking, and loved having the opportunity of visiting natural hot springs and camping out in the wilderness. My first position in Calgary was a nanny job with a family mostly assisting the mother looking after her 2 month old baby. The position was like a maternity nurse position in England assisting mother and baby in routines, providing emotion support and providing maternity support for the mother.I had a strong connection with the whole family and was invited to familly gatherings and became quite close to the family.I worked with them for a year. After the nanying job I started working at Renfrew Educational Services as a special education assistant and got lots of training in Autism, F.A.S and other learning delays..It was quite an intense, but fulfilling expreience learning so many unique skills working alongside the physio, speech pathologist and O.T which were very transfereable.I gained valuable knowledege then worked for the Calgary school board as a student support worker with autistic children and got specialist training in dealing with behavioural issues. Having been in Calgary for a few years we decided it was too cold. We missed the rain. My husband and I decided to move back to Vancouver where my first initial employment was at U.B.C Daycare working with 3-5 year olds with typical and special needs children. In 2008 I applied for the Vancouver School Board as an on-call student support worker and having specialist training in working as a deaf blind intervenor .I am currently transitioning from working in the school board to nannnying as I really enjoy the opportunity to build up close relationships with parents and children and to provide fun, Creative activities where the child can learn through play, in nature, visits, reading having quiet times. I really love nannying. I am open to doing light housekeeping , having pets around..mostly I love to spend quality time with children providing a fun, stimulating learning environment that enhances the childs development on all levels…. I look forward to meeting you. Cress Spicer U.B.C.
