Hi! I\'m Lauren, I\'m 29 and I moved from London (UK) to Vancouver in December. I\'m living Downtown with my boyfriend of five years and we\'re really enjoying the city so far! I am a registered nurse in the UK, with eight years experience. From 2011 - 2..., I worked in the recovery room (or the post-anaesthesia care unit as I believe it\'s called in Canada!). Part of my role was providing one-to-one care to paediatric patients - ensuring they woke up safely from the anaesthesia and were recovering as expected. I looked after children on a daily basis. As you can probably imagine, I was required to think quickly and make decisions regarding a child\'s care in what was a critical and sometimes stressful environment. I was responsible for making decisions as to when to call a child\'s parents to come to see their child in the recovery room, and when it was safe to discharge them to the ward. My favourite moment was always seeing parents\' expressions as they ran into the recovery room to be reunited with their child! I completely understand that leaving your child in the care of another person is difficult. Caring for a child at such a vulnerable time was a responsibility I valued and never took lightly. I am a registered nurse in the UK and have had two years experience looking after paediatric patients in the post-anaesthesia care unit. This involved one-to-one nursing care to ensure their safe recovery from anaesthesia. The children I cared for varied in age, from infants to teenagers.
