Rita was the caretaker for our 1-year old daughter for 4 months. When finding a nanny, it was important to us that our daughter would be engaged in enriching activities while also be cared for in a loving way. Rita did an excellent job at both. She took a lot of initiative to create interesting arts and crafts projects, which were both fun and educational. She prepared nutritious meals for our daughter, encouraging her to explore different tastes and textures. Rita also ensured that our main living areas were always tidy and often performed household chores without being asked to do so. Our daughter and her quickly developed a loving bond, which made mommy’s transition back to work rather smooth. Overall, Rita was a reliable, caring caretaker and we know our daughter will miss her dearly.

Rita Castilho worked for me as a caregiver to my two children in 2010 and 2011, on a part time basis. The work arrangement would typically be blocks time – daily care Mon-Fri 7:30am to 6:30 pm for several months. She was at the same time working other jobs while seeking an education as a teacher. When she started working for me as a caregiver, my son was in kindergarten and my daughter was in grade 1 - ages where they benefitted greatly from much attention from Rita. I just recently found myself needing a caregiver for a few days and was very pleased to hear that Rita was available to work as she has just recently finished her studies. Rita is full of positive energy and confidence. She is a great person for my children to be around. She engages them well, guides and teaches them like a professional, listens well and takes the time to try to understand them, all while displaying incredible patience and model behavior herself. Of all the people I have trusted to take care of my children she clearly rises to the top – as I would have little to nothing to say negatively about her. She was always confident and respectful. She was never late for work, nor did she ever fail to follow through with what she has agreed to do. I never felt the need to give her much instruction at all on how to care for my children. It seemed to come naturally to her and if anything I would often listen to good advice she herself had. Even though our conversations focused around the care of my children, it was clear that she was well educated and self-disciplined. She regularly exceeded my expectations which allowed me to feel fully confident to trust her with my children. She was able to communicate and cooperate to resolve all issues that arose. My children remember her well and typically describe her as “really nice.” I would surely look to hire Rita again in the future, although I no longer typically need to hire a caregiver for my children.
