Nanny in London, Ontario

My name is Catherine and I am a student in the Child and Youth Work program at Fanshawe College. I am looking for a full time nanny/babysitter position over my summer break. I feel like my skills and experience, combined with my enthusiasm and positive approach when confronted with difficult situations, would be a helpful addition to your family. I have taken the Human Services Foundation year program at Fanshawe, plus the first two years of the Child and Youth Worker program (and I intend to resume my studies in the Fall of 2016). My academic courses have given me a good introduction to child and youth issues, and childhood development. I have lots of experience working with children and youth ranging from ages 1-18. I have worked as a babysitter, swim instructor, and in an elementary school and a group home for my school placements. In addition to working with children I have a very responsible work ethic, gained from my experience working in customer service. My previous jobs -in a grocery store, in a busy coffee shop and at McDonalds- as well as my placement at Street Connection have taught me the importance of good interpersonal skills, being part of a team and having to perform under pressure. Specifically, I would stress three particular skills: (1) I am a team player (being part of a band in high school and working in customer service jobs have built my ability to work with others and learn the importance of interpersonal skills and the need to perform well under pressure); (2) I am calm in difficult situations (learned from teaching swimming to young children, working in customer service jobs and in my student placement at a drop-in centre for street kids); (3) I am motivated to succeed and to help others succeed (developed from success in swimming and band concert performances). I would be willing to perform any child care and house keeping duties your family requires.
