My name is Emera, and I currently reside in Nanaimo, having grown up for the majority of my life on beautiful Bowen Island, BC. I have completed my social science diploma with an emphasis in social work at Okanagan College. I have been attending VIU and am now entering my 3rd year of Interior Design. I am a self-motivated, compassionate and caring individual, and I truly love working with children. Over the past 12 years, I have gained experience working with children of a variety of ages, within a diversity of contexts. I grew up nurturing my creative interests and developed a love of writing lyrics and playing the acoustic guitar from a young age. I was given my first second hand guitar at the age of five, and began fearlessly singing my heart out. Eventually leading to many years of singing and guitar lessons with a wonderful musician on Bowen Island. At the age of 14 years old, upon submission of two original songs, I had the privilege of being accepted into the Ignite Songwriter’s Mentorship Program in 2012. This creative mindset moved me through music and now in my later years has blossomed into a passion for Interior Design and Architecture. Currently, my personal hobbies include: continuing to write music and play the guitar, working out at the gym, leading a healthy lifestyle, expressing my creativity, cooking, baking and being outdoors.
