I have had several employment opportunities in or related to, the field of childcare throughout my career. During one such experience, I was fortunate to spend a year teaching preschool at Little Tots\' Manor, an academically enriched daycare located in midtown Toronto. I also had the opportunity to assist in a toddler class for a period of a few months. These opportunities allowed me to broaden my knowledge of child development, program planning, and building an inclusive learning environment for all children. Working with children has played a defining role in my life. Through my employment experience as a preschool teacher, I have developed skills in leadership and teamwork, a capability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations, and an understanding of the importance of planning and preparation. However, working with children teaches you so much more than skills. Children have the ability to see the world through a clear, hopeful lens, and remind you to find the magic moments in everyday life. My experiences in childcare range from teaching preschool, leading summer camps, and babysitting and nannying for various families. I have worked with children ranging in age from infants to school age, with the majority of my expertise being in the 2.5-4 year age range.
