I am a friendly and compassionate youth worker who has over ten years of experience with children and young people. I am motivated to be a positive influence for the children I meet and maintain a safe, fun environment for their development needs. I am patient, energetic, conscious of safety concerns, and genuinely enjoy working with children. I have had numerous opportunities to work with children ranging from ages 2-14. My current position as a children's director for a downtown church has me working with over 12 kids aged 3-9. My responsibilities include: creating a suitable study curriculum, organizing and participating in age appropriate games, helping children with their snacks, creating fun crafts with children, helping children with disabilities visit the bathroom, encouraging positive values, adhering to all procedures regarding appropriate speech and physical contact, monitoring children for signs of illness, and developing a healthy, open relationship both with the children and their parents. I have also had the opportunity to work as a Vacation Bible Study assistant which catered to 50 children over the course of several days. My responsibilities at that time included working with about 12 kids aged 3-7. I was responsible for supervising children while they played, ate, accompanied them on their visits to the bathroom, and ensured that they were all accounted for at the end of the day. My time as a summer camp counselor in Chicoutimi, Quebec had me working with young children aged 2-5. I was responsible to communicate with the children solely in French, help them with their meals, participate in all games, supervise them on field trips, maintain a safe play environment, entertain them as their parents arrived, and monitor them for any signs of illness or stress.
