Hi, my name is Miranda Gill, I am 18 years old, and just graduated high school in June. I am planning on working this year to save up enough to attend Brigham Young University next September, and therefore am avaialable at almost any time. I love being around children, and caring for them, I have lots of experience caring for young children, and I believe in treating them with love and compassion, no matter what. I was raised as a Christian in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I strive to be like Christ in everything I do. Though I am religious, I will never force religion on others, especially children, and I will never do or say anything around the children that would contradict what the parents have taught them. I believe in treating everyone with love and respect, and in dealing with difficult or frustrating situations with patience and understanding. I will never make a decision out of frustration or anger, and I don't believe physical punishment should ever take place. I am very responsible; in my grade 12 year, I organized my school`s annual community art show, a task usually taken on by a staff member. Since none of the staff were interested that year, I found a venue, set the dates, had students in the digital media class make posters, and found students to help put them up around the community, and wrote a schedule for students to supervise the gallery. That year, I also started a Free the Children group in my school to fundraise for a global village project. We worked alongside other schools in the district to build schools, wells, and fund medical programs in developing countries. As founder of the group, I spoke with representatives from the Me to We and Free the Children organization about our project, and how they could help. In my church`s young women`s group, I took on the leadership role for the girls, and strived to be a good role model for them. As a nanny, I believe it is my job to be a role model for the children, and to teach them love and compassion. I know how critical the first years of their life is, and how much influence people have in thier lives at such a young age. Last summer I worked as a full time nanny for four children aged 6, 9, 11, and 14 (the 14 year old was able to take care of herself, but needed someone to act as the parent). As a nanny, I made three full meals for the children, kept them entertained, solved any disputes, and helped them have an enjoyable summer. I started between 8am and 9am, and would take care of them until evening, usually around 7 or 8 pm, sometimes closer to 9 or 10 pm, so I am very comfortable working long hours, and spending lots of time with children. I have been babysitting since I was ten years old, when my mother had her fifth child, and was working from home. I took care of my four younger siblings while she worked, and I continued to take care of them throughout my life, and still take care of them. Both of my parents work full time, so I took on the responsibility of taking care of my brothers and sisters; after school I would pick them up, make them an after school snack at home, help them with their homework, and make dinner before my parents got home. Lots of times I would put them to bed as well if my parents didn't get home in time. From this, I have experience taking care of every age, from newborn to teenage years, and taking care of many children at once. Over the years, I have also taken care of children for family friends, with many different age ranges. Most recently, I have been babysitting three boys, aged 6 months, 3 and 5 years, the 3 year old being particularly hyperactive. I love taking care of children, and I believe it's important that they are treated with love and compassion by whoever is responsible for them.
