Hello! My name is Abril Larsen, I am 20 years old, and I have been working with children for about eight years. I am passionate about children, and I love teaching them vital lessons in life and help them discover who they are. I began babysitting when I was twelve years old, and it was then when I discovered that this fulfilling work made me very happy and I decided to further pursue this in a more "professional" setting. During high school, I tutored children in grades six and seven and I taught them school material, helped them with school projects and assignments, and taught them English. I moved to Quebec city for three months in 2013 to work at a summer camp, and since French was not my first language it was a challenge for me in the beginning but I overcame my fears because my willingness to help children was greater than my barriers. I have worked for two summers (2015 and 2016) at the University of Manitoba's summer camps as a group leader. There, I was responsible for the safety of the children of ages 3 to 15 years old at all times, I planned activities for campers and guided them throughout the day, I updated reports for children regarding their progress at camp, etc. In addition to this, since 2008 I have been babysitting for family, friends and neighbours when I am needed. In this role, I play with the children, read to them, give them baths, feed them, prepare them for bed and put them to sleep, take them for walks, clean the house, create a safe environment where the child feels comfortable to express himself/herself, and more. I also have my First Aid and CPR certification. I am excited to start a new experience with children and families here in Toronto, and I can't wait to share with all of you my skills and experiences to provide the care that you seek for your family.
