Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

Hello, My name is Agnes and I am looking for a position as a live-out nanny, preferably around 30h/week. I have experience working with children aged 4 and up, and, apart from caring and playing with the children, I would love to help your family with school pick-ups, cooking, homework and light housekeeping. I am 20 years old and Swedish but I speak English, Swedish and French (B2 level). In the past, I have developed close relationships with the children I have worked with and some I still keep in touch with. For example, at a movie set, I worked as a nanny for child actors and spent all day with three children for two months. It taught me how to handle different types of situations and emotions for instance homesickness, sadness, tantrums and conflicts. After the two months, the parents asked me to continue working with their children. I feel very confident in my abilities to take care of and develop close relationships with children. I have been working part-time for a couple of months as a substitute teacher. This has really taught me a lot about how to manage groups of children. I have learned to adapt my teaching style depending on the group. Sometimes when I have more demanding classes I usually try to take breaks from traditional work in books to, for example, play math games or incorporate everyday items and life into my teaching. When I have more independent students I try to take that into consideration and let them work more autonomously. It rarely helps to get angry or scream at children, it is often more efficient to talk to them face to face and try to explain and discuss why they are upset or have done something wrong. I also have experience in tutoring and babysitting. A few years ago I went on an exchange year to France, at the end of the year I did an internship at a French preschool. I have also lived with a family in Singapore a few summers ago to babysit their daughter and teach her Swedish. I have a drivers licence and are currently flexible with hours. I am studying online and can choose how I manage my time. I will be living in Toronto at least until the end of the year.
