My name is Jeff O'Hara, and I am an actor with a passion for working with children in the arts! Since moving to Toronto from Halifax, I've been looking to find any field to care for and work with young people. I'm 26 years old, and I attended Mount Allison University for my undergraduate degree in Drama, as well as University of Essex (UK) for my postgraduate degree in Acting. I have worked with children for years, which I began as a camp counsellor when I was a teenager. During my time at Mount Allison, I volunteered for 3 years with an organisation that partnered students with children with special needs. As "Buddies," we'd get together once a week and develop social skills, motor skills, cooking skills, or just have fun with our Buddy. I met some of the most incredible kids during those 3 years, and it has shaped my interests ever since. I worked in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia as an substitute Educational Assistant, where I worked in a variety of environments with different students every day. Some days I worked in the classroom, helping the teacher and students with whatever they were learning, and other days I worked with children individually on whatever their curriculum was focusing on. Some days I was working with the most challenging students in the school, but I strive hard to connect with any kid I meet in order to make whatever progress we can. I've also worked as a performer for young people in Canada, the UK, Ireland, and China. I love inspiring young people to be creative and use their imagination! I've led theatre camps and puppetry workshops, and seeing what young people can create still blows my mind. I'd love to help out families in Toronto and make sure that your kids are in good hands.
