Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

Hi there, I'm Jena, and I have two years experience as a paid nanny, but many unpaid years experience working with children. I have a valid CPR and First Aid certificate, and a recent clear police record check. In my past I have been a sunday school teacher, and a girl guide leader, and a nanny for children ages 8 mos- 7 years old (and unofficial experience with older children as well). I am very creative, I love to sing and dance and get silly with the children when their music is on. I organize crafts in my work with children, so making interesting crafts and organizing things to do is no issue. I am a high school graduate, and a college graduate, I am educated in community and social services, and I love helping people, and have since a child. I am calm, and well put together, I do not panic in stressful situations, and have excellent situational management skills. I never get angry with children, and opt for more of a restorative approach to discipline so as to make them learning moments, this means I ask questions around what happened, and how they think the other child felt (for example if the issue was one child hit another child), and try to get the child to come up with the correct course of action (apologizing) on their own. I find this more effective than telling them the correct answer. A key quality of mine is that I pay attention to the children, I spend my time with them, and make sure my focus is their comfort, entertainment, nutrition, and educational opportunities. I am not a baby sitter, but rather a child care provider, and your child's care would be my priority.
