My name is Dawn Gibson and I am from a small town called Alameda, Saskatchewan. I just graduated from the two-year photojournalism program at SAIT in Calgary. After completing a work placement with Victoria News and Monday Magazine here in Victoria this March, I fell in love with the island and the people, so I decided to move here! Having coached figure skating and baseball for 5 years, I have a lot of experience working with children of all ages and from all different walks of life. I have a passion for educating, and would work individually with children to adapt to each childs learning capabilities. Coaching taught me that when it comes to children, it's important to be patient, accepting and respectful. I also learned that a task is achieved much easier when done in a courteous and understanding fashion. I am First Aid and CPR certified as well as CPR level C certified. I also worked as a life guard at a water park for 2 years, which helped me learn to take action while remaining calm and clear minded in potentially dangerous situations. As an outdoor lover and creative spirit, I believe it's especially important for children to get in touch with their creative side. Whether it be playing outside, painting a picture, or going for bike ride through the park, I believe it is great to stay in tune with nature and pursue all that life has to offer. I am a very caring, empathetic, and social individual, and I love spending time with people. These qualities make me believe I would be an ideal choice for a child care provider!
