Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

Hi there! My name is Luana Garcia, I am from Brazil, graduated in biology with a teaching degree and I have 2 years of experience with childcare. As a babysitter, I am hard-working, fun, and never stoppable. I have worked for 2 years as an Au Pair, taking care of two kids (4-6 and 2-4 yo). By that time I lived with an amazing family in the USA, while improving my English, knowing their culture, and being like a big sister/tutor for the kids. I used to share many children-related activities with their parents, but some of my responsibilities were: driving the kids to/from school, taking them to sports class, doing their laundry, packing lunch, sometimes preparing small meals, helping and supervising the kids while they were cleaning up their toys (the kids were encouraged to clean up after every activity, and, when necessary, I helped them), finding places to go and activities and crafts to do with them. I am still close to the family that I helped and I am sure they would be happy to give you more information about me and my time as their Au Pair. I believe that children need to be active and because of that, I love to be outside with them, playing sports, going to playgrounds, riding bikes, or simply going for a walk. Along with the body, their minds need to be stimulated, so I am always looking for crafts, projects, and pedagogical activities to do with them. I like to find storytimes to attend to, or we can have our own storytime at home, reading and singing together. In my opinion, it is also important for them to socialize, therefore I try to have playdates, picnics, etc., incentivizing them to make friends while also respecting their individual limits (this of course, when it is safe to have physical contact). Furthermore, I'm comfortable helping with meal preparation, pet care, housekeeping, and laundry. I think that I have the profile to be great at taking care of kids from 1 to 12 years old (toddler, preschool, and grade-schooler), however, I am not limited to that age. Regarding how many kids I would feel comfortable with, that would be up to 4 kids, depending on their ages. Apart from my nanny/Au Pair experience and beliefs, I would like to talk a bit about myself: I have been married for 3 years, I do not have kids but I plan to have them in 3-4 years, for now, my husband and I are two happy cats owners. Currently, I am a Human Resources student at Humber College, but I believe that I truly found myself when I was taking care of kids. I describe myself as a very adaptative, curious, and open-minded person, I give my best and I put my heart into everything that I do. I can adapt very easily to different situations and try to be a problem-solver for myself and others (I really love to help people!). As a Brazilian, my first language is Portuguese and I am learning French. Currently, I'm in Midtown Toronto, close to the subway, and have transportation to most parts of the city. I would rather have a live-out opportunity, nevertheless, we could discuss a live-in scenario.
