Hello there! My name is Allison Shields, and after two wonderful years with my previous family, I am currently seeking new employment available for full time hours. Here’s a little bit about myself: I am a fully vaccinated previous educational assistant and experienced nanny living in Vancouver. Something you should know about me is that I am very passionate about education, traveling and caring for kids. For the past ten years I've worked at various Elementary schools, nannied, been a house mother in an boarding school as well as facilitated children's creative writing workshops at local schools and festivals. I have extensive experience working with all ages and needs, ranging from infants to toddlers and school-age children with a social emotional learning model and gentle-parenting approach. I think it's so important for kids to get the most out of their day. Being very energetic myself, I'm always finding new ways to spend time outside and in the environment, a passion that I would love to share with your kids, whether it be swimming, picnic's in the park or even small day trips to local water parks, local classes or libraries! It's important to me to ensure your child is receiving the best care possible. I do not have access to a vehicle, but I see this as an opportunity for children to learn about transit accessibility in the city from someone who is very comfortable with it! On top of outdoor activities, I love to help around the house. Previously being an office cleaner, I have experience on keeping spaces clean. As a nanny, I love to create exciting, nutritional meals for children to enjoy. Additionally, I would be happy to help with laundry, and pet-care if needed. Being an Educational Assistant, I can also help with tutoring. I have many educational resources at all levels and abilities. I believe getting children prepared before school can help ease the transition! I have a background in Montessori, public school, as well as working in French-Immersion. Additionally I value the social-emotional learning model, I believe it’s important for children to express their emotions and cope in healthy ways. I have Red Cross First Aid, CPR training and experience working with students with behaviours, Autism, ADHD and FASD, so I am confident I can meet any of your child's needs.
