Nanny in Kitchener, Ontario

Hi there, I'm Katie! I have several years of experience working in different childcare settings, both in preschools and as a private nanny. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and have taken several early childhood education classes at Conestoga. Most recently I was a private nanny for a lovely family of five, primarily looking after their two youngest (a 2 1/2 year old girl and 1 year old boy) with the occasional before and after school/PD day care of their kindergartener as well. Getting to work so closely with a family day in and day out was such a joy and a truly special experience. My duties involved preparing meals, taking the children to nearby community programs, putting them down for naps, maintaining the general cleanliness and tidiness of the house, laundry, and of course, playing, having fun, and setting up developmentally appropriate games and activities for the children. Prior to this I have experience working in a small preschool as well as nannying and occasional babysitting jobs caring for children between the ages of 6 months and 7 years old. All of my past experiences mean that I am comfortable with a wide range of roles and duties. I can play, tutor, help with homework, cook, clean, be a total goofball, and help enforce your method of discipline and positive reinforcement when needed to name a few. I also have my First Aid and CPR certification and a recent and clear Vulnerable Sector police check. I'd also like to mention that I am an animal lover and would be very open to working with families with pets of all kinds! I am available for part-time hours, generally in the evenings and weekends as I do also have a full-time job during the day. I have some flexibility in hours; however, the ideal start time would be 4pm or later. Please note that I do not have a vehicle, nor a driver's license, and so am unable to help with school pick-up - unless, of course, the distance is walkable!
