Nanny in Vancouver, British Columbia

Hello! I am a third year student attending UBC in Vancouver. I am looking for fulltime summer employment in a beautiful place anywhere in BC! I have a diverse range of experience working with children and am interested in pursuing my teaching degree or a degree in Social Work. I would love the opportunity to work with your family. Last year, I took a semester off from university to work as a Special Educations Assistant in School District 78. I worked part time at Agassiz Center of Learning while working on call at various schools around the district. This work was incredibly rewarding and demanding. It required me to be very adaptive to the varying needs of children. In 2012-201... I spent a year volunteering in rural India educating 5 students, preparing them for the International Baccalaureate. I designed and implemented curriculum that catered to the specific needs of my students. I have also worked as a dance teacher for 2 years instructing children ages 3 - 12 in Ballet, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. During this time I also volunteered for 3 consecutive years as a camp counselor and activities coordinator for a weekend bereavement camp called Camp Skylark. In my first year at Pearson College in 2010 I lead a project in my home community of Hope, where I held free international dance, singing, and theatre classes for 30 children ages 5 - 10. We put together a performance at the local primary school and in addition collected food for the food bank as the entry fee. I have worked with children from a very young age. I took my first babysitting job at the age of 10. Since then, I have worked with a variety of children from different backgrounds with different needs. I often volunteer in my mother's grade 3 classroom assisting children with special needs, assisting with special art projects or attending field trips.
