Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Hello Parents/Guardians, My name is Gemma and I am in my early twenties. I'm responsible, fun, creative, organized, and I have a high degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal awareness. I am majoring in psychology and minoring in sociology. My hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, swimming, tennis, cycling, photography, editing Wikipedia pages, genealogy, volunteering, archiving, baking and cooking, traveling, thrifting, and visiting museums. For two years, I was Co-President of my university's Frontier College club. Frontier College is a Canada-wide non-profit organization that focuses on literacy development across all ages. Prior to my work as Co-President, I was a Team Lead, which had me running an after school homework-based program for children ages six to twelve. In my role, I created and lead group and individual activities, oversaw the volunteers and ensured that everything ran smoothly week to week. I have babysat/nannied for over a dozen families across Toronto, and one in Guelph, with children ranging from one to ten years old. For two consecutive summers, I worked at a Crestwood Valley Day Camp where I was responsible for eight 2-4-year-olds. The position entailed helping them with activities and play, lunch and snack, bathroom duties, pre and post-swim time, safety, and social skills. I also have experience as a part-time nanny to a boy with special needs, who was unable to communicate verbally. This care position was a challenge, which I was eager to take on. I enjoyed studying and implementing strategies to improve our relationship, work on his communication skills, aid in his learning, and enrich his happiness and wellbeing. I have a wide range of knowledge within the social sciences but I love learning in general. My formal education has been an asset to all of the person-centered roles that I have taken on. Some of the subjects, which I've found most beneficial, include: civic engagement, human development, social psychology, cross-cultural psychology, personality, gender, abnormal psychology, abnormal development, and gerontology. I aim to exceed the requirements of your family and put smiles on both you and your children's face(s). Thank you for considering me to babysit your child(ren)! - Gemma : )
