Hi :D My name is Rachel I am currently on summer break from Conestoga College. I just graduated from my first program Human Services Foundations where I leaned about the different fields in human services. In September I will be going back to school in the Early Childhood Education program. Where I will learn about child development how to plan a curriculum that is based on a thorough understanding of child development and a curriculum to meet the developmental needs of children, as well as lots more. I am excited to work with children and I look forward to what i will be able to accomplish once I am finished with college. In the mean time though I would like to have some more experience with children although I already have over 6 years of experience working with children. From the age of 12 I have babysat for family friends children aged from 2-8. Watching the kids in there own home well there parents when out for a few hours. At the age of 14 I started babysitting a newborn on occasions where the parents would have to go out for a few hours in the evening. I also watching a 1 year old child and her 4 year old sister for about 1 and a half years. Sometimes I would be watching the 2 children for the whole weekends, preparing breakfast lunch and dinner as well as snacks. I was responsible of bathing the children cleaning up and having them in bed at bedtime. In high school I also had a co-op placement at Winston Churchill Public School in one of their kindergarten classrooms. My responsibilities in the class were to interact with the children as they play and play learning games with them, as well as helping the teacher with preparing the activities for the children. This co-op placement was a good experience for me going into college to become an ECE.
