I'm an
Individual
Hello Family. My name is Olivia and I am a twenty-two year old student from Ontario. I am a friendly, responsible and caring young woman who absolutely loves being around, teaching, and playing with children. I am positive, open-minded, adventurous and love to learn and have fun. I come from a warm, happy family that is eager for me to pursue my work with children and explore other parts of Canada. My mother works as an insurance broker for BFL Canada and my father is a retired thoroughbred jockey. I am a Philosophy major at Queen\'s University in Kingston, Ontario and plan to graduate in the Spring of 2015 and continue my traveling and learning adventures. Before studying Philosophy at Queen\'s University, I was a Classical Guitar and Vocal Performance Major at a performing arts school in Mississauga Ontario, so music is a true passion of mine. I also have a great passion for the outdoors and staying active. I have spent the past six summers teaching various activities to young campers at Glen Bernard Camp, one of Canada\'s premier summer camps for girls. Before becoming the Activity Head of the Horseback Riding Program, some of the activities I taught included kayaking, canoeing, swimming and Eco-education. I have my Standard First-Aid Certification, my Bronze Cross and CPR-C certifications, as well as my Criminal a Record Check. My time at camp gave me a ton of experience with children, and helped me to realize my dream of working with them in the future. I would love to have to the chance to spend time with your family and get to know you and your children. Another interest of mine is cooking and being in the kitchen. My father is extremely passionate about food and this is something that he instilled in me from an early age. I love to cook for my family and friends, and have recently taken up a position at a crepe cafe while at school to learn something new. Working with kids is what I aspire to do in life, and I hope to eventually become a teacher. Further, I have not yet had the opportunity to spend an extended period of time in another province, and to spend time with a new family seems like such a unique and rewarding experience. As I hope to have a career with children in the future, this would be such a fantastic opportunity. I believe that my previous experience with children has helped me to develop a great rapport with them, and I have a true ability to connect with kids. My time at camp has encouraged me to develop a good work ethic, a strong sense of responsibility and of course the ability to be creative and have FUN. Please don\'t hesitate to contact me if you\'d like to chat more or have further questions for me. Best, Olivia I have spent the past six summers filling various roles at Glen Bernard Camp, one of Ontario's premier summer camps for girls. Throughout my first two summers, I had the responsibilities of acting as a counsellor, as well as teaching various activities to young campers. As a counsellor I was responsible for groups of up to ten girls aged 5-13. As a counsellor I was required to wake the girls up and prepare them for the day, plan cabin activities, prepare them for bedtime, as well as to help resolve any issues that arose throughout their time at camp. Before becoming the Activity Head of the Horseback Riding Program, some of the activities I taught in addition to being a counsellor included kayaking, canoeing, swimming and Eco-education. I have my Standard First-Aid Certification as well as my Bronze Cross and CPR-C certifications.
