Nanny in Saint Thomas, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
Hello! I'm looking for a full/part-time nannying position for the next year (until Sept. 2019). I have 3 years of experience caring for children of various ages and am planning on making a career out of childcare. My experience: I began working as a nanny in 2015 when I cared for an infant (from age 3-8 months) alongside his mother. In 2016, I moved to Ireland for 7 months to work as an au pair for an Irish family. There, I cared for an infant (9-16 months) and her 6-year-old brother. I returned home to Canada and attended university for 5 months before returning to my first family to care for their second baby for about 6 months (from age 2-8 months). I attended university again for 2 semesters, then I decided to drop out and go to college instead for ECE. In the meantime, as I save for college, I have been working with a family who has 3 children (1, 3, and 5) for the past 5 months. I care for the children 3 days a week, usually for about 9-10 hours/day. Sadly, I will have to leave my current family soon because I am moving to Saint Thomas (1.5 hours from my hometown of Guelph!). I am looking for a position with a family in the area (London/Saint Thomas) for the next year until I start the ECE program at Fanshawe in September 2019. Ideally, I would like to work 3-4 days a week but my schedule is very flexible. I also have my own car so transportation to and from your house would not be a problem. However, it is a Smart Car so not ideal for transporting children. I am looking for a family with 2-3 children. Most of my experience is with babies and toddlers, but I really enjoy spending time with older children as well. At my current job, I cook meals and do light housework as well as taking care of the children. I actually quite enjoy doing housework - keeping the kitchen tidy, the bathroom clean, folding/organizing laundry. I also do lots of baking with the kids. I have 2 dogs and a cat, so I am happy to be in a house with animals. If you have a dog that is easy to take for walks with the kids (i.e. who listens and doesn't pull etc. - which my own dogs are not capable of!), I would be glad to get them exercised too. I like to take an educational approach to childcare. For example, I have been teaching my 3-year-old the names and roles of the plants and trees we see when we are walking down to the park. We also practice drawing/counting numbers. The endless stream of "why?"s can often be exhausting as an adult but I do my best to foster that inquisitiveness in the children I spend time with. I am also bilingual (French/English) - I followed the French Immersion stream all through elementary/high school, so I would be glad to help the kids with French homework or introduce them to French words/culture. I can't wait to hear from you! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have. Sincerely, Rebecca
