Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
I am looking for a part-time, live-out position as a nanny/childcare helper for a permanent situation. I was hired on several months ago to help look after a charming 15 month old girl, but her mom suddenly landed a position for her in the daycare which had been planned for September, so I am once again available to help with your family's needs. I am in my 50's and in good health, and I currently work part-time, mostly evenings & weekends, as a virtual assistant for 10 hours per week. I have raised 3 children successfully on my own, and have 4 small grandchildren - due to their living location, I rarely get to see them, so I am looking to fill my days doing what I do and enjoy best - engaging with kids! I love reading to them, playing songs on my guitar and singing, feeding them, and socializing with them. I am a positive, happy person who takes things in stride and understands the concept of 'grace under pressure.' I am reliable, honest, and can be chatty. I am currently in a communal living situation in downtown Toronto, and share 10 hours of care for 2 school-aged enthusiastic boys per month. As well, I have been a nanny for two young children for the past 3 years - unfortunately they have recently moved away from the Toronto area. While in their employ, I attended school and also continued to work as a virtual assistant. My duties involved taking the kids to the park, to school, bike rides, bathing and feeding them, and similar tasks, along with minor household duties. Recently, I have been co-sharing a small rescue dog and have trained him as a Service Animal with St. John's Ambulance for those struggling with mental health issues. This endeavour has proven so successful that my co-sharing partner, who deals with a variety of physical and mental disabilities himself, has assumed full-time responsibility for the pup and has begun volunteering at institutions with the pup. I am also a recent college graduate of an anti-oppression diploma program at George Brown and have volunteered and worked part-time iat a non-profit in social work for marginalized refugee communities., as well as having worked in a rural international placement for my studies. I have gained a depth of understanding about my own level of privilege through these experiences and count myself fortunate to be able to have the resources to engage and share energy with others.
