Nanny in Whitby, Ontario

Hello! My name is Rachel, a 24-year-old who moved to Ontario from the states last year to be with my Canadian husband. I have an open work permit, and I'm looking to do some part-time work while I'm job searching. I have experience working with children through my job at Kennedy Krieger Institute, a children's hospital in Baltimore, MD. I am equipped to work with children with disabilities from 1 to 12 years old. I'm available any day of the week, and open to working any time of the day. I can easily adhere to special dietary rules, as I had to meal prep for many children at Kennedy Krieger. I'm can do laundry, help kids get dressed, assist with homework and assignments, do light housekeeping, and more. I am also comfortable with any pets in the household, as I own a rabbit and often care for my in-laws' dog. I worked as a behaviour therapist for the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD, a children's hospital that specialized in helping adolescents with developmental and neurological needs by using ABA-based treatment. I worked with kids anywhere from 1 to 12, but spent a majority of my time with 2-4 year olds. Most children in the program had autism and/or developmental delays. Through this field, I am used to handling behavioural issues such as tantrums, aggression, and food refusal. Outside of clinical sessions, I would spend time building rapport and trust with the children in the playroom whenever parents were absent. Supervision is typically one on one, but I have had to watch multiple children several times. Additionally, as a result of meal sessions, I have lots of experience cleaning up emesis, expels, and any spilled food. I have also had to change diapers and clothes, as well as do laundry at the institute. I am CPR and AED certified through the American Heart Association as of January 12, 2023, which lasts for two years.
