Nanny in Squamish, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
To whom this may concern, I am 32 years old, and a recent graduate student with a Bachelors of Education, from Simon Fraser University. I was born and raised in Penticton, B.C. I grew up in a family of four children. My mother was a stay at home mom, while my father was a long standing mechanic for Greyhound. For the first two years of elementary school, I knew I wanted to become an elementary teacher. Ever since that time, I have focused my secondary and post secondary efforts towards becoming a teacher. In high school I was a peer counsellor, as well as a team leader of the school cafeteria. Outside of school I babysat both of my neighbours children and my younger cousin. A few years after high school I moved to Vancouver to attend post secondary. I began my post secondary education at Langara college, and while attending Langara I volunteered at the Langara YMCA. The program I volunteered for was the Action Kids program. After a year of volunteering, I applied for a position in the after school program. Action Kids allowed for me to experience working with children ages 5-12. The program provided me with strong organizational skills, time management, structuring activities, problem solving, and overall; the ability to improvise when necessary. The next couple years at Langara YMCA, I applied myself in both the spring and summer camps as a team leader. While working at Langara, I discovered an amazing company called Pedal Heads. Pedal Heads was the best suited job I've ever obtained. I was working alongside people who were equally passionate about children and cycling. I got the pleasure of helping children ride without training wheels and utilizing hand signals to safely ride on the city streets. Coincidentally, on the last week of camp I had a parent approach me about a nannying position. She was very pleased with my attentiveness with her son that she recommend me to her sister. That following September, I became the nanny to two boys. They were the ages of 6 and 8. I was their care giver/housekeeper for a total of 3 years. For the last year of being part of their family, I was in my final year of university. The conflict of our schedules did not allow for me to look after them, however; I assisted their mother with household chores, errands, gardening; and house maintenance for a couple days a week. I feel extremely grateful to have worked for such a strong family unit. In addition, from 2016-201..., I was a care giver for a lovely family of five in East Vancouver. I wasn't just their nanny, I was a part of their family. To this day I am still in contact with the parents and am asked to look after their children for weekend getaways. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy various sports (especially cycling). I am an avid cyclist, I am either on the north shore riding a mountain bike, commuting through the city on my surly, or racing in the lower mainlands cyclocross series. I also enjoy painting, sewing, and cooking healthy and hearty meals. I put a lot of my efforts in spending time with family and taking care of those closest to me. In terms of personal attributes, I am reliable, a good communicator, caring, patient, compassionate, empathetic, adaptable, thorough, resourceful, crafty, and detail oriented.
