Nanny in Toronto, Ontario

Hi there! My name is Susana Marino and I am looking for a full-time, live-in, nannying position. I am taking a short break from University to work in order to gain experience and save up for school. I have been employed full-time at a daycare for over a year (working upwards of 40 hours a week) and have worked with children as young as 2 months up to 12 years old. I work primarily as the preschool teacher and as the older toddlers class teacher. My objective with my pre-school classes is to prepare children age 5 to enter school. This means recreating a classroom setting in which children would learn to follow instructions and work with other kids.I have taught classes as large as 25 kids fundamental skills such as writing, reading, parallel play, and fine motor skills. With the older toddlers, most of my time is spent developing social and physical skills: singing songs, creating art projects, and teaching independence (eating with utensils and dressing self). I am very interested in child psychology, and am planning on majoring in child development. Thus I take great care into how a child is educated and am very familiar with "gentle parenting" and "Montessori" style parenting. As a young teacher, I feel at an advantage because I am able to be more physically involved with the kids. At the daycare, we dance and play games together and I greatly enjoy bonding with the kids. I am also well versed with children with special needs; having worked with nonverbal students alongside speech therapists. At the daycare, I was also responsible for cleaning, meal prep, potty training, and other tasks. I am currently still in the process of learning French, but, am fluent in English and Spanish and teach in both languages. I would consider my special talent to be getting fussy kids to nap and working through tantrums. I love all my kids as my own and am very excited to be able to work more closely with a family as I believe child care is a team effort.
