Recommendations

I am writing to recommend Ashley Brooks for any nanny position (shared or single-family). I was Ashley’s employer from October 2020 to summer 2021. When we hired Ashley, my husband was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and my son was about 14 months old. As a new mother during the pandemic, it was very scary to bring someone into our home but I was so happy that we did. Ashley was a welcomed addition to our family. During our time together, Ashley noticed that Alexander was not speaking and to support his development taught him a number of ASL signs and introduced us to ASL. This has helped enormously. My son knows over 100 signs and is able to communicate to us with ease. Without Ashley bringing this language and culture to our attention, we would be at a loss as to how to understand our child. In addition to supporting my son’s language acquisition, Ashley has become his best friend. My son had a difficult time adjusting to having a nanny since we are always home and he has had very little socialization outside of our immediate family. Ashely was able to navigate this obstacle by providing love, support and guidance to all of us while he got used to having a nanny and my husband recovered from his illness. My son will often ask for Ashley when he is upset with us. Ashley is very willing to take direction, is punctual and excellent at keeping Alexander quiet during our work day. We are only parting ways because we want to put Alexander in a daycare environment for socialization as we do not have any other children for him to interact with.
