Nanny in Vancouver, British Columbia
I'm an
Individual
A bit about myself:
I went to college for music education grades K-12, so I have experience in teaching large groups of children with no supervision. I am skilled at disciplining when necessary, and know how to create a fun learning environment - no sitting idly in front of the TV on my watch. :) I will engage your kids in every day social skills, problem solving, and give them opportunities to make their own decisions with guidance.
I play both the flute and saxophone, and can teach other instruments as well.
I am a huge fan of arts and crafts and have a gigantic Pinterest page of fun and creative ideas to keep kids occupied and interested while I am taking care of them. Recently, I have created indoor sand, elephant toothpaste, milk art, and various art projects with the kiddos. They\'ve had a blast, and have learned a lot just from these projects alone (not to mention all of our chats about things like astronauts and gravity, trees and how to tell how old they are, etc.)
The past year of nannying was hands down been the best job I have ever had. Having little kids run up to you when they see you in the morning and grab onto your legs yelling that they love you is so heart warming. You know you\'re special when they whisper in your ear, giggle with you like little maniacs when something silly happens or you act like a child yourself, and when they climb into your lap for a hug and don\'t want for you to leave at the end of the day. I have been so blessed with the family that I nannied for. The parents are two of the most caring individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They\'ve welcomed me into their family whole-heartedly, which really says a lot about them - even now that I am no longer with them, they are still family to me and I have the feeling that we will be in each others lives for a long time. This has been so much more than just a \"job\" for me. My boyfriend and I have had dinners with the family and hung out with the parents. We\'ve planned game nights with each other, and their kids have hung out with us at our house while the parents were at a conference. We\'ve taken them pumpkin picking and carved pumpkins, made pies, and the kiddos are smitten with my boyfriend and dog (in fact, the little girl told me that she was going to marry him.). We\'ve met up on weekends to go for walks and catch up. I have been on vacation with the parents twice this year, and it was such a great experience. A lot of people would probably go crazy spending 24/7 with an employer - I just felt like I was on a family vacation and helping out with my little siblings. That\'s something that\'s really great.
My leaving was a mutual decision - the kids started kindergarten in September and my boyfriend got a full time job in Vancouver, which required our move. I still occasionally help them out when they need it, and Facetime with the kids a couple times a month to catch up, which is really awesome.
Anyway, this has gotten way longer than I intended, but I find it very important to be open and transparent with each other to make life easy on everyone..plus I always have a lot to say, haha. I am rarely short on words. :)
I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have been given within the past year, and am really looking forward to creating another strong bond with a family and their children.
Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my profile. I would love to talk more about your family and children and see if we are a good match for each other or not!
Hi there! My name is Jena and I recently nannied for two wonderful four (now five) year old twins in Victoria. I have had experience babysitting infants all the way to teens, and can provide references upon request (both from previous and current employers and character references). I am certified in CPR/AED for infants through adults and can provide proof upon request for that as well.
I only left my family because their kids were starting kindergarten and no longer required a nanny, and my boyfriend got a full time job working in Vancouver around the same time. I was very close with the kids and the parents as well, and would love to have another amazing bond like that. I keep in touch with them still - usually via Facetime, and I also babysit for them on occasion!
As a babysitter, I will treat your kids just like the kids that I would nanny! I\"m happy to engage them in fun projects, or to go to the park, or have a movie night (complete with popcorn and pillow forts!). Whatever you prefer, I can manage.
Not only that, but I am happy to do light housework when the kids are asleep - sweeping the floor, loading/unloading the dishwasher/folding laundry/etc. Anything to make your life easier! :)
