I have had the pleasure of working alongside Yanxia for the past 6 months. We work together in Maple Bear Preschool in Singapore. As a bilingual immersion preschool the children are educated by a English and a Chinese teacher. Independently we plan and teach the children curriculum lessons for our domains and together we are responsible for the overall development of the class. I have been extremely lucky to have worked with such a dedicated teacher. Yanxia has an incredibly caring nature, which has been invaluable in the children’s personal and social development. Yanxia works tirelessly to ensure her lesson planning and activities are engaging for the children. She is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher and this shines through in all she does. She has an excellent knowledge of best practise for Early Childhood development and of the Chinese Curriculum. She sings with the children, she reads a range of stories to the children and as a result they have become much more creative and imaginative. Yanxia is highly organised and this has been reflected through the learning opportunities and the trip she helped to arrange over Chinese New Year. She is keen to allow the children to experience true Chinese culture and provides them with as many opportunities as possible. Her care for the children is exemplary; she is kind and caring and always shows the children great respect. She has excellent behaviour management skills, adopting a firm but fair approach which the children respond well to. She has been a perfect role model to the children guiding them to develop good manners and be polite. Yanxia demonstrates great positivity in all she does, the children respond so well to her personality. She goes the extra mile to ensure she provides excellent learning opportunities for the children and she works exceptionally hard to make her planning and resources the best they can possibly be. Over the past term she has created wonderfully engaging displays that the children have independently developed their learning from. She encourages creativity which has helped to develop the imagination of all the children in our class. She sets high expectations for the children and supports each child in ensuring they reach their potential. Through the praise and positivity she gives to the children they make great progress. Yanxia knows all the children in our class and is always quick to respond to children that need more help or perhaps need pushing on in their learning further. On a personal level, she has helped me greatly to settle into Singapore, being an expatriate from the UK. She is incredibly supportive, friendly and so caring in all that she does. She is a great team player, who is well liked and highly respected by all her colleagues. She is always willing to help anyone out and is exceptionally kind hearted. Her dedication to helping others and her positivity is a joy to be around. As we have worked together she has been keen to learn more English as I have Mandarin. She is a great teacher but also a keen learner. She tries her best in all that she does. Consequently she has also made such a huge impact on our parents, who have commended her positive manner and caring nature. Yanxia has a wonderfully calm nature, she works hard to ensure all children have the best learning opportunities and it is clear that she loves her profession being an educator. She has been a wonderful colleague to work alongside and a great role model. I know she is and will always be a huge asset to any team as she brings such positivity and warmth to all those she meets.
