Nanny in Winnipeg, Manitoba

I'm an
Individual
My name is Emily, and I am currently attending the University of Winnipeg in my fifth and final year of the faculty of education. I love working with children and have already had the opportunity of working with children ages 1-17 in my practicum, current job, and as a part of my schooling. My current experience working with children is mostly through my teaching practicum with the University of Winnipeg. I have just recently completed my practicum working in a grade 7 classroom in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division, and with a grade 3/4 split classroom in the Winnipeg One School Division. I have also spent time volunteering with an after school program in the Seven Oaks School Division tutoring children and helping them with their homework, but also teaching art and cooking skills. I have volunteered with the St. James-Assiniboia school division musical theatre program in the past that allows elementary and middle school students the opportunity to put on a yearly musical for their family, friends, and peers. I also volunteer at my previous high school, Westwood Collegiate with their various musicals every year, and assist in choreographing their graduating fundraiser 'The Event'. As a teenager I also frequently babysatt for families around the neighbourhood and my own extended family. My extended family has many young children, so I am often surrounded by them. I have also previously nannied for a family with 3 young children and loved every minute of it. My responsibilities included occasional meal preparation, pet care, transportation, and of course playing with and caring for the children. I developed and maintained a fantastic relationship with the family, and still keep in contact to this day. I also worked in a daycare facility with various ages from Preschool to grade 5 for about 3 years. This past summer, I was chosen as a group leader responsible for a large portion of the children who attended the facility that I work at. During this time, I was lucky enough to build lasting bonds with the children who attended the centre and their families. Currently, I am working towards finishing my school while also working a respite job. I care for children with exceptional needs at varying ages. I am Fist Aid/CPR certified, and can also present a criminal record and child abuse registry check upon request! If a more recent check is required, I will require notice as it can be a lengthy process! I am extremely creative and enthusiastic and always enjoy learning new things! I am really hoping to find a position working with children not only because I love kids, but also to gain experience for my future career. ***Due to my current schooling situation and the month long practicum that is attached to it in April, I would most likely do best with a family who requires more flexible care such as evenings and weekends.***
