Nanny in Waterloo
Hello! My name is McKenna Ruffolo, I am a student currently enrolled in grade 11 at Bluevale Collegiate institute, living in the waterloo region. In school I am excelling in many of my classes and focusing my studies towards psychology, I love learning new and exciting things everyday about how humans work.I have always been surrounded by kids growing up, I come from a huge Italian family, where being with family is the most important thing... other than food! I am experienced caring for children all the way from infant to teenager. I happily just became a Godmother. I am planning to go to school for a bachelors degree in Human Behaviour. Throughout my life I have always volunteered my spare time, I started at a young age volunteering at Out Of The Cold which was a program held at churches for the homeless, this gave them a hot meal and a bed to sleep on. Sadly my volunteering time ended here after 4 years when the government decided to cut funding for these programs. Volunteering at a homeless shelter made me learn so much about others in the community and also helped me learn a lot about myself. This is where I first got the interest in psychology, most of the people at the shelters had some kind of mental illness and I was so curious as to how each illness effects the brain. After my time ended at the homeless shelter I volunteered at KidsAbility.Yes this is way different than a homeless shelter. I loved my time so much here! I volunteered in a program that assisted kids in a gym setting helping them improve their interaction skills. This volunteer experience was so rewarding I left every time with a big smile on my face. Throughout grade 10 I got a part-time job so I had no time left for volunteering, between managing school and work. Then came grade 11. In first semester I took Co-op which I could not be more thankful for my experience. My Co-op was through The Canadian Mental Health Association, I got placed in an elementary school being a support for kids who were going through a tough time whether that were with school, friends and or family issues. This Co-op taught me so much about how kids work, learn, and most importantly deal with emotions. I am forever grateful I had the experience. Another course I took at school was Peer Helping, which is working with the developmentally challenged class. I now work with a boy who has autism being a support worker to him and most importantly a friend. With all of this being said I am a very reliable mature young woman who would love the opportunity working for you and being with your children!
