Yikes! What did my daughter ask for Christmas?

November 30, 2011

Last night while I was out, my older sister called and spoke to the kids. While they were talking, the girls put in their requests for Christmas presents. I spoke to her today and she told me that my 9 year old asked for something very unique. She asked for stocks. Yep, not SOCKS, but STOCKS... my daughter asked for financial stocks?

My sister found it really funny. I, on the otherhand, feel a little bewildered, unsure what to think.

I'm sure that my sister will end up giving this to her, but should I let her do it? My daughter is very interested in this right now, and wants to be able to be just like Daddy, checking the paper everyday to see how her stocks are performing. Receiving this gift could allow her to understand an important piece of our economy, but might it be too much for a 9 year old?

I don't want to discourage this, but really? Stocks for Christmas? What do you think?
