What do Nannies to the Rich and Famous Get Paid?by Craig Sutton • September 06, 2016
Believe or not some rare nannies that work for the rich and famous command salaries comparable to doctors and other high paid professionals, helping us appreciate how difficult the profession is. What are the qualifications that would enable a super nanny to make $100,000 - 200,000 USD per year?
According to a NYTimes.com article, “A typical high-priced nanny effectively signs her (and they are almost always women) life over to the family she works for… Many clients are paying for the privilege of not having to worry about their child’s care.”

Joanne Barrow was the recipient of international NANNY OF THE YEAR award in 2013, and the focus of the Forbes.com article Confessions of the Best Nanny in the World. She spoke on the difficulties of her profession…
“People should really validate being a nanny as a professional career. We’re not glorified babysitters. We’re considered an extension of the parent.”
Borrow wasn’t exaggerating. She provided an example; she previously worked for a single parent who was overloaded with work. Joanne found herself making important decisions for the children: including health, education, and entertainment. During her career, she stated that she had salaries over $100,000 and bonuses worth $30,000.
Joanne’s example should help future nannies and parents appreciate how serious the profession is. In the same article, Joanne also mentioned some of her impressive educational qualifications which included: time at the International Butler Academy and a course in children’s etiquette.
