We are seeking a nurturing, professional, child-centred individual who can commit to a part-time care giver role for the next 2-3 years. This opportunity would be perfect for a part time teacher or educational assistant, a university or college student with daytime and evening classes or someone who might be doing other childcare work during the day. My daughter is presently in grade 1 at a nearby elementary school, about a 10 minute walk from our home. We would require that the caregiver collect her from school each day when school ends at 3:00pm. All extra-curricular activities she is involved in presently take place on the weekend, so there would be no requirement to act as a chauffeur. In short, we need someone who is completely reliable to take responsibility for our daughter from approx. 2:30pm-6:00pm, from Monday to Friday. We would likely only require help during the school year so your summer, Christmas and March breaks would be open. The start date would be as soon as possible. Salary: $12-15/hour, 15-20 hours per week, although salary may be negotiable, based on experience. Education/Credentials: Post secondary education in child care (i.e. ECE, B......, CYW) is desired, although caregiver may still be completing one of these programs; Must hold valid First Aid and CPR certificates; Police check for vulnerable sector; Medical check with all immunizations current Drivers license is an asset, but is not mandatory Experience: Minimum two years experience in child care, or working with young children. This could include paid or volunteer work (i.e. nanny, child care centre, day camp or after school program worker, babysitter). Languages: Ability to speak, read and write English fluently. Ability to speak and read French (at an elementary level) would be a significant asset. Specific Duties: Supervise and care for child, walk child home from local school in the afternoon, assist with homework, organize activities, crafts, outdoor play, short outings, group activities (play dates) and other age appropriate activities, read to child, prepare and serve nutritious snacks. Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home and assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents. Tend to emotional well-being of child, discipline child according to the methods requested by the parents. As time permits, perform dinner prep, or other small jobs around the house.
