Veteran camp counselor - worked five years at the same summer camp. (This is the paid experience referenced above.) Current graduate student. Will complete a Masters in English in August. Completed undergraduate degree in May 2014. Vast experience with leading children\'s programming, including DVBS, AWANA, and library programs. I have also volunteered as a candy striper (ie, hospital volunteer) and as a GED tutor. I am also currently a Big Sister mentor. I am responsible, hardworking, genuine, dependable, and enthusiastic. I am originally from the Maritimes; I have a Nova Scotian driver\'s license. I am hoping to receive my First Aid and CPR certification in the next couple of months. I completed a babysitter\'s training course, years ago, through Saint John ambulance in NS. Interests include theatre & film, reading, writing, and skating. I have lead drama workshops, and am used to planning children\'s programs and games. I have been a teacher in a variety of different settings, and I am open to new experiences and am a life-long learner. I am a supporter of imagination, creativity, and education. I believe in being a kid while there is time to be a kid. Aside from volunteer activities (at local library, kids programs, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa), I worked at a summer camp for five years. Depending on the week, ages ranged from six to sixteen. At camp I had the following duties: ~Provision of care and supervision for a cabin of six or seven girls – six days, five nights per week. ~Camp cleanup: bathroom, dishes, grounds, and floors. ~Planning, leading, and supervising camp-wide activities, workshops, and games (for all campers) ~Other responsibilities as given by the director, which could include additional cleanup, organization, administration, or leadership duties.
