Hello my name is Laís, I am 27 years old - soon to be 28 - and I am from Brazil. I'm seeking a child care worker job opportunity in Canada. I have extensive live-in childcare experience as I lived for two years in the USA as an au pair, first year in Illinois taking care of four boys in ages 4 (twins), 12 and 14 years old and second one in NY with family with a 9 year-old girl and 7 year-old boy). I am very glad to say that both of my previous host parents - from the au pair program - would describe me as a trustworthy, caring, responsible, respectful and patient person. I have experience helping kids with their homework, preparing meals (I love cooking), driving daily to activities - I have been driving for 10 years now, ticket and accident free, also while in the USA I earned a drivers' license. I am a good swimmer as well. Before the au pair program I had a few experiences helping with children at church, at a pre-school, with my neighbors' children and with my cousins and siblings. I come from a family of 5, with two younger brothers - now ages 25 and 20, both in college, Medicine School - and I live with my mom and my dad. I can't forget of our four dogs and I think by that you may understand that I really love animals. I took a different path from my brothers and I don't have a degree in medicine but in communication and now I am about to finish my MBA in business. While in the USA I took 6 marketing and business courses as well. Since I came back from my exchange program I have been working in administration/finance in a company here in Sorocaba, a city about 50 minutes away from São Paulo. I love traveling, listening to music, watching tv shows, reading, walking outside and cooking. Cooking is actually my hobby, I am sure you will love to try my cinnamon roll, homemade bread, salads, typical foods, etc. I had a wonderful experience as an au pair and I would love to be able to share what I've learned and also learn new things with your family. I love kids and with all the children I helped taking care of I built a strong relationship and I think it happened because I was able to understand that each kid is different. They have different personalities and we have to try to find the best way to gain their trust. You will be always free to talk to my previous host families too if you want to; I have a great relationship and still very close to them. I speak Portuguese, as my first language, have advanced knowledge of English with experience abroad and a know a little bit of French. This last one I've been trying to improve now.
