Loving, mature, and active caregiver needed to provide daily childcare for family with 3 children in South End Halifax: 9 year-old girl attending school daily from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm 7 year-old girl attending school daily from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm 3 year-old girl attending preschool daily from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm Hours of Work: Half-day childcare (12pm to 5pm; 5 hours/day) during the school year. Full-time childcare from mid-June until Sept (8 am to 5pm; 9 hours/day). Occasional additional full days required for PD days/child home sick days. Start date: Flexible; between Aug 1 Sept 1 2016. Position will be advertised and interviews held until the right match is found. Please send resume and cover letter to: Jennifer CorcoranPrimary responsibilities include: assisting with breakfast time (full days only), care for preschooler which includes taking her to activities such as Kindermusik, gymnastics, playdates, and outdoor walks, preschool pickup at noon, serving lunch, school pickup and providing child care and activities for the older children in the afternoons. Mother generally does morning school drop-offs and some afternoon pick-ups. During summer months, children attend activities and lessons at the Waegwoltic Club. Assistance with daily housework required, including loading and emptying dishwasher, washing dishes, emptying garbage cans, tidying up, organizing childrens belongings, bedrooms, and playroom, doing childrens laundry and grocery shopping. Some basic meal preparation required. Flexibility needed: Occasionally some early morning/evening childcare may be required. Additional payment will be provided for these hours. Requirements: Experience as a nanny required; a driver's license required; lifeguarding/swimming credentials an asset. A completed criminal record check, child abuse registry, child first aid/CPR course, and a driving record check are required. Salary: minimum $15/hour (higher wage will be considered depending on education and experience). Pay will be bi-weekly via cheque; taxes, EI and CPP (and employer EI and CPP contributions) will be held and submitted by employer. Holidays: The following paid holidays will be provided: New Years Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Natal Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. (Note that Easter Monday is not included in this list because the mothers employer does not recognize this holiday). Vacation: 3 weeks paid vacation; 2 weeks of which must be taken at a time when the family is also on vacation. At least 3 months notice is needed for scheduling of any independent vacation time. Sick Days: 5 paid sick days per year ($50 per unused sick day will be provided in the form of a bonus at the end of the year). Other benefits: a petty cash fund for activities with children; family has memberships to Waegwoltic Club, Dalplex, Discovery Centre, and The Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History.
