I am a certified riding and yoga instructor with 16 years of horse experience and a solid eleven years of teaching experience for thousands of hours. With much enthusiasm and expertise, I provide riding and yoga lessons and camps year-round throughout the lower-mainland. I passionately work with children and adults; with a unique ability to provide just the right support and challenge to foster confidence while developing solid foundational skills. I have been discovering there is an increasing interest of parents wishing for their children to have access and space to explore themselves safely outdoors in nature and be cared for with mindful awareness. Whether it be facilitating with horses, on the mat or in the forest and parks, I am here for the children. Below is a poem I wish to share that expresses why I deeply love working and playing with students and horses "They say he’s too quiet. They say she’s too inquisitive. They say he’s too energetic. They say she’s too sensitive. They say these things thinking it will help, But it doesn’t really. It only causes worry and the pressure to conform. The truth is, changing would be a tragedy. Because when they say “too quiet,” I see introspection. Don’t change, thoughtful one. You’re gonna bring quiet wisdom to the chaos. Because when they say ”too inquisitive,” I see problem-solving. Don’t change, little thinker. You’re gonna bring answers to the toughest questions. Because when they say “too energetic,” I see vitality. Don’t change, lively one. You’re going to bring love and laughter to desperate times. Because when they say “too sensitive,” I see heart. Don’t change, deep feeler. You’re going to bring compassion to hurting souls. They might say change is needed. But I ask that they look a little deeper and observe a little longer. You’re gonna light this place up." -Rachel Macy Stafford What to expect: The children are invited to explore their outdoor and indoor environment through different perspectives from internal reflection on how they feel and participation in co-creating their activities with me. Reflection is interwoven throughout our time together: critical thinking and problem- solving is encouraged. The care involves play, laughter, tranquil structure and self respond-ability in their environment. Clear communication is practiced and the children receive support in exploring their emotional intelligence.
