Nanny in Hamilton, Ontario

Since I was young I have always enjoyed teaching others, and growing up I had many people tell me I should look into teaching because it suited me. I have just completed my first year within the Brock Concurrent Education program where I learned many valuable things about child-development. I believe in always creating a safe environment for children to learn and play. I have worked with classes where the ratio is 10 children to one staff and the groups are changing weekly and I would like to work with families where there is an opportunity to get to know their needs and be able to help in a meaningful way. I would love the chance to get to work in a friendly-family oriented setting. -5 month COOP in a kindergarten class within the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board (22 children in the class) - 2 years as a program leader at a City of Hamilton recreation centre (I taught cooking classes, science classes, gymnastics classes, and kinder mix-sports with generally 10-12 children in each class and the ages going from 3 years old- twelve years old. -Camp Councillor for the City of Hamilton summer camps. Two summers in regular camp (ages 5-12) and one summer working in a preschool camp (ages 3-5). We had between 8-10 children in a group, some with special needs that required specific attention. We went on off-site trips as well as supervising daily swim time in public pools. I had to plan my own crafts, sports and daily activities. -I coached at Hamilton Gymnastics Academy for 2 and a half years, teaching children ages 4-16 recreational gymnastics and basic tumbling movements, as well as mentoring coaches-in-training and minor cash handling. -I was also employed at an overnight camp as kitchen help/ dish washing so I have experience making snacks and meals. -Finally I have completed St. Johns Standard first aid and level C CPR (both which had specific instructions for children and infants), as well I am certified in the High-Five Principals of Heathy Child Development.
