Since I was involved in camp counseling, I found how rewarding working with children could be. Ever since then, I have strived to incorporate working with youth into my life. In the future I hope to compliment this in my environmental science degree by pursuing career in environmental education. I am energetic, enthusiastic and patient, and I have found these attributes to be very useful in my life, especially when working with children. Additionally, my resourcefulness, and ability to adapt to situations and environments have proven me to be proficient when working with children and I hope I have the opportunity to show this to you and your family. In the past three summers I have been a camp counselor for Eureka Camp Society (2008-20..., June-August). This is an overnight camp designed for kids with invisible disabilities such as ADHD and autistic spectrum disorder. During two of those years I was, respectively, the Art's and Craft leader and the Out-trip leader. Depending on the camp, the camper's ages ranged from 8 to 18. My responsibilities included, preparation of my programs and carrying them out, facilitating camper interaction, mediating conflicts, insuring the campers tasks and schedules were carried out and general supervision and throughout the day. Additionally, I have also had previous experience in childcare. Varying from children ages one to 14, where I have been responsible for preparing food, planning day trips and carrying them out, doing household tasks, reading out loud, playing to the children, helping with homework and preparing the children for bed.
