Nanny in North York, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
I am an Ontario Certified Teacher for grades Kindergarten to Grade 6, in all subjects, who is seeking a full time position as a nanny. My experience began when I was very young, as I am the eldest of eight children, and care-giving has always been a part of daily life. I secured my first position at a day care facility when I was only sixteen, working after high school hours and during the summers. During this time I was able to care for infants and toddlers by feeding them, changing diapers, assisting with potty training, and creating and implementing age appropriate activities. When I graduated from high school, I went on to University, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and a minor in Elementary Education. I spent the next two years working as an educational assistant. During my first year at this position, I worked to improve the reading skills of students throughout the school, grades 1-5. The next year, I assisted primarily in a first grade classroom, in which I taught reading groups, math groups, and assisted with overall classroom duties. Post-graduation and during my time working as an assistant, I also had the very special opportunity to be a babysitter to a set of sweet twin boys, seven years old, one of whom had Down Syndrome. I stayed with this family for nearly two years, driving the boys home from school, staying with them on sick days, taking them to doctors appointments, tutoring in school work, preparing their food, and cleaning up after their little messes. During this experience I fell in love with their family and the career of being a full-time nanny. I am looking forward to taking a position which allows me to love and care for your children the way that you would while you are away! I am passionate about my job, and don't want to just be a "babysitter," but rather someone who is going to engage your child in developmentally appropriate activities and play! P.S. I am willing to do light housework and meal preparation if necessary. I am also willing to care for pets, but unfortunately am extremely allergic to cats! If they are outside cats, or are confined to certain portions of the house I can manage, but direct contact or close proximity is not good for me!
