Nanny in Vancouver
Hello, my name is Lauryn. My most recent job background has been very unrelated to childcare, although childcare has always been an interest of mine. When I was younger and got asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" I would respond with "daycare lady". I always did babysitting growing up and somehow I always manage to be the one playing with the little kids or holding the baby at family gatherings. The past few years I have been focused on my career, but do to the economy slowing down, I am forced to look into other interest so I thought now would be a good time to try something new that I can be passionate about. My profession is Welder, a far stretch from childcare admittedly. However, being a female in a male dominated industry forces you to be very conscious of how you conduct yourself and how you deal with certain situations and I feel it has given me a unique perspective on our attitudes towards people. I have an interest in child development, but no formal training. I think activity and good nutrition is extremely important, both of which are interests of mine. I have good time management and organizational skills and I believe in letting children play and discover what they enjoy and to support all that they are interested in. Discipline is important but I feel establishing a level of respect is even more important than just punishment. I do have my standard first aid which includes CPR for infants and children. I am open to childcare, errand running as well as some house cleaning responsibilities.
