As an Early Childhood Educator, I had the opportunity to use my strong knowledge base of child development and passion for the field to encourage student’s learning and growth through emergent curriculum. I created a positive and enjoyable atmosphere through various rich tasks that intentionally encouraged positive cognitive development, emerging language skills, literacy rich experiences, as well as social and emotional development. In my practice teaching and volunteering experiences, I taught each subject with enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication. I worked collaboratively with my associate teachers to understand the various diverse needs of each student. I was able to adapt and modify lessons through differentiated instruction and through my understanding of multiple intelligences. My strong understanding of the importance and value of the integration of multiple technologies, including assistive technology, in the classroom has enabled me to further develop and enhance my lessons. Throughout my volunteering experiences, I assisted with creating lesson plans that utilized the Promethean Board to a high degree. In ensuring that each lesson was adapted to the needs of each student (with ASD and Developmental Delays), I found it most useful to create my own flipcharts.
