Personal Statement I come from a small town called Milton in the south island where I lived for eight years with my Mum and Brother. My Mum works as a shop assistant in a dairy and my brother is studying computers in Invercargill. My Dad lives in the north island with his girlfriend and her child. My Dad is a police officer and his been in the force for 25 years. Most of my family are based in the north island but I tried to visit them regularly each year and now keep in touch via Skype and the phone. I worked in Marlborough too, in hospitality and briefly as a carer. However I missed being a Nanny and have decided the best way to do this again is to move to London. I like to have adventures, travel and be outside. I am enjoying being so close to lots of different places and have visited, Bath, Bristol and Scotland since we arrived here. I love shopping, fashion, going to the theatre, watching movies and reading. I have also played and coached netball and enjoy swimming. I have worked with children since I was at high school and achieved a level 5 childcare qualification, coming top of my class, whilst in New Zealand. In my year of training, I learnt a lot about child development and covered the following : understanding of social, emotional, cultural, cognitive, spiritual, psychological and physical dimensions within a family setting, primary health care and knowing how to achieve good partnerships between a nanny and family. My favourite part of the course was going on placements, which I did three times, giving me the chance to try out my skills in real life setting. After passing the course, I got a full time, live in, sole charge nanny job for a family in Invercargill. In additional I also helped another family at few times at the weekends and in the school holidays. My Nanny philosophy is to let children try to do things for themselves with an adult being there to help them if they need it - I believe they learn better this way. I also believe in outdoor play. The biggest reward I get when I working as a nanny is seeing a child light up when I have helped them achieve something new. I am an easy going and happy person who always likes to have fun and I would love to help more children grow and experience what life has to offer. Getting children ready for school, school pick up and drop off, homework, after school activities, cleaning, cooking, getting children ready for bed, cared for 1-5 children at a time.
