Individual
Once upon a time there was a little girl called Lottie, who had blonde curly hair and green eyes. She lived in a town called Guildford, just south of the big city known as London. She lived with her Mother and their three cats and was surrounded by happiness and love. As Lottie grew older she had various jobs, all revolving around childcare because she knew that was where her skills and passion lay. Lottie’s first Nanny position was in 2004 when she had a sole charge position for 3 children under the age of 7. Since then she has Nannied or Babysat in addition to a variety of other roles including Support Worker for Social Service, Teaching Assistant, Special Needs Carer and Teacher. In the past 18 months Lottie has worked as an agency Teacher part time and a part time Nanny through a reputable London agency. She spent two days each week looking after 9 month old twins, using her imagination to entertain them, play games, read stories and all the time keeping them safe and happy. She has also spent days and nights working for families on an on call basis. Many of these families enjoyed the fun yet professional way she interacted with their children so asked her to come back. Over the years, Lottie has worked with children of a wide range of ages, from 4 months right up to 11 years old and has also experienced both mainstream children and children with Special Needs in a variety of roles. Her most unique role was being a Nanny/Carer for a 4 year old girl with severe Special Needs including respiratory problems that led to Hannah having to be resuscitated often, only having 10% vision in one eye and being diagnosed with Dyspraxia. In between work Lottie spent time on adventures in other countries either living and working or traveling her way round. She has explored several continents including Europe, Australia, Asia and South America. Once Lottie developed a passion for travel there was no stopping her! The little girl grew up into a confident woman who enjoys set herself challenges. These characteristics led her to spend time teaching and traveling in India and Africa. The first of such trips led Lottie to set up a non-profit organisation upon her return to life in England because she knew she could do something to help others less fortunate than her. More recently, Lottie decided to move to ‘the big smoke’ and found herself living in London, working and socialising in the diverse city. Lottie loved the city and all the opportunities it had to offer. She could often be found wandering around markets, museums and galleries. Lottie was always the one amongst her friends who had an idea of somewhere new to explore. In the most recent chapter of her life, Lottie recently embarked on a new challenge and moved to Toronto after falling in love with a Canadian. She now lives with her partner and two guys in a townhouse they were very lucky to find in Liberty Village, downtown Toronto. So far she is enjoying the social side of living with other people and it gives her lots of opportunity to practise the Canadian accent! Now Lottie is looking for a new role and is hoping to find a family that will let her be a member of rather than just an employee. She feels this is better for both children and parents as well as herself and it enables stronger relationships to be built with the family. Lottie likes to keep busy so she is looking for an active family that allows her to use her initiative to manage the children’s time and schedule, ensuring they are keeping all their arrangements, but enabling them to do different activities and/or day trips. Lottie is still as inquisitive as she was when she was a little girl and enjoys the challenge of learning. She has not only completed a BSc in Psychology with Education but also successfully gained a PGCE Early Years with QTS Post-graduate qualification. She has also taken various short courses including Makaton Sign Language, Managing Challenging Behaviour and a Playworker Certificate. Lottie is very keen to further her studies and is excited by the fact she now lives close University of Toronto. As a Nanny, Lottie is an asset to a family because of her confident, calm and professional manner. She builds a rapport with children quickly and is friendly and approachable. However, despite it being mostly fun and games with Lottie, the teacher within always comes out when she makes boundaries clear and consistently manages them so children know what is expected of their behaviour. Lottie has developed, from being a little girl with blonde curly hair and green eyes to a grown woman with less blond, less curly hair and green eyes who has developed an array of skills through her varied experiences both at home and abroad. She still has a huge passion for children’s books and from this has come a passion for working with children, establishing a relationship and supporting their development. I have worked with children between the ages of 3 months - 11 years in a variety of roles including Teacher, Nanny and Babysitter. I have held sole charge responsibility roles for up to 3 children including twins. I extensive special needs experience having taught non verbal children with Autism and Downs Syndrome. As a Nanny/Babysitter I am confident in my ability to establish a rapport with children and provide stimulating activities to engage and entertain them. I am comfortable cooking child appropriate healthy meals as well as tidying and cleaning up after myself and the children. I enjoy being outdoors and am enthusiastic about taking children out to explore museums and attractions.
