Nanny in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Hello. My name is Rachel. I’m a 26 year old women who has recently moved home to beautiful Nova Scotia after living, working and exploring British Columbia for 5 years. Earlier; while living in Nova Scotia, I regularly babysat my own family members, in addition to attaining nearby babysitting positions while I was in junior high and high school. While I attended Dalhousie University, I spent my summers working for the Boys and Girls Club of Sackville, running a youth program and overseeing elementary grade programs. I also dedicated one summer each year to volunteer at Camp Goodtime; a summer camp for children who are currently or have suffered any form of cancer. After being a camper myself, I decided to volunteer for 6 additional years. This equipped me with a plethora of knowledge when it comes to working with children with special needs and who require specialized care; and managing their time and essential activities. After moving to British Columbia, I spent many weekends and nights caring for my cousins; who were 4 months old, 3 years old, and 5 years old at the time. Eventually, I started my own residential cleaning business, which offered me the freedom I desired. While running this business I got to know my clients on a personal level and this lead to many more opportunities - I even did some childcare for some of my clients! Thus, my experience involves caring for, entertaining, teaching, loving and providing a safe and emotionally secure environment for children from infancy through teenage years. I am dedicated to creating and maintaining close and trustworthy relationships with both the children and parents I work with. I don’t just love children, I love people. I think everyone has something to offer and everyone has something to teach you. Any sort of position working in a childcare setting won’t simply be a way to make ends meet for me, it will be a meaningful, enjoyable and challenging; yet fulfilling way to devote my time and support myself. *First Aid, CPR *Avid hiker, runner, and general outdoors person imaginative when weather isn’t on my side!
