Summary: Our family is interested in hiring a full-time nanny to help with some light house duties and to help supervise our children, (ages: 6 months, 2, and 4 years old). We are seeking an experienced, caring professional who truly enjoys spending time with kids. The successful applicant will be responsible for light house duties, engaging children with fun, developmentally-appropriate activities, keeping us updated on events throughout the day and alerting us immediately if there are any problems. Hours of work: This position might require some weekend and evening work, but with at least one-week notice when possible. Weekends and holidays may be requested but there will be flexibility as required. Regular hours of work: M-F 1pm – 8pm or 2pm – 9pm. Hourly rate: $15-20/hour *Live in care is also an option and the salary is negotiable. Some responsibilities include: o Light house duties: o Preparing meals for kids o Tidying up kids’ rooms and/or living room area o Light sweeping o doing the children’s laundry o preparing meals for the kids (lunch/dinner) if possible o emptying the dishwasher o Help with bath time for children o Engage children with fun activities, such as games, puzzles or pretend play o Tend to the general and basic needs of the children while providing supervision to ensure the children’s safety in day-to-day activities o Engage children in age-appropriate activities—including free play, arts and crafts, games, and reading—to encourage the children’s intellectual development o Supervise homework and assist if needed o Model appropriate social behaviors to encourage children’s social and emotional development, such as developing empathy and cultivating interpersonal relationships o Teach children safe behavior based on environmental context; for example, seek adult assistance to cross the street o Monitor the children’s behavior for irregularities pertaining to their health and well-being as well as their physical, emotional, and mental development o In case of illness or injury, provide necessary medical attention; for example, transport the child to a doctor or hospital, take the child’s temperature, and administer medications as directed o Instruct the children in proper health and personal care habits, such as diet, exercise, and toilet behavior; provide assistance as needed o Assign chores as appropriate to teach the children responsibility, self-control, and self-confidence o Praise the children for targeted behaviors to encourage appropriate conduct o Create a safe environment for the children by removing hazards and enforcing appropriate boundaries o Meet with the parents regularly to reflect on and plan for the children’s activities and development Nanny Requirements and Qualifications o Certification in infant and child first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) o Fluent in spoken and written English or Japanese. o Understanding of child psychology and stages of development o Prior experience in childcare settings (day care center, nursery, babysitting, nanny) o Post-secondary certificate and/or some college preferred o High school diploma required
